MARION, Ind. – Indiana Wesleyan Softball finally welcomed Taylor University to Sue Bowman Field after their previous matchup was postponed. Taylor was able to comeback late in game 1 to win 11-7. Game 2 was looking positive for IWU before rain and lightning forced the two teams to suspend play after 4 innings.
Taylor started the first game of the day strong with 2 runs in the top of the first. IWU was able to get a run back in the bottom of the inning with a
Maddie Martin RBI single.
Isabelle Beidelschies was able to hold Taylor scoreless for innings 2 through 4 while the offense scored 1 run in each of those innings to lead 4-2 after 4 complete innings. In the fifth, both teams put up 3 runs in their half of the inning and IWU held a 7-5 lead going into the sixth. Taylor would retake the lead with 4 runs in the sixth and 2 more in the seventh to take down the Wildcats 11-7.
Game 2 started with a 1-0 IWU lead after one inning but Taylor scored 2 in the top of the 2nd to lead 2-1. The Wildcats answered with 6 runs in the bottom of the 3rd. Rain and lightning stopped the game in the bottom of the 4th, causing the game to be fnished another day.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- Taylor crossed 2 runs in the top of the 1st inning, but IWU was able to match 1 of those runs when Maddie Martin batted home Morgan Yeater.
- In the 2nd, Malayni Clemens scored off a SAC fly from Danica Fuller to tie the game.
- IWU took its first lead when Courtney Thomas singled bringing home Yeater in the 3rd inning.
- Morgan Yeater made it 4-2 with an RBI single in the bottom of the 4th inning, continuing the streak of 1 run every inning of the game for IWU.
- The 5th inning saw the most action as 6 runs were scored between the two teams. Taylor scored 3 in the top of inning before Danica Fuller hit a bases loaded triple that gave the Wildcats the lead once more.
- However, the Trojans would plate 4 runners in the top of the 6th to take the lead and 2 more in the top of the 7th to increase it to 11-7, which ended up being the final score.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Similar to game 1, Maddie Martin brought home Morgan Yeater in the bottom of the 1st inning to give IWU the 1-0 lead.
- Taylor answered with 2 runs in the top of the 2nd inning.
- In the 3rd inning, Yeater scored on yet another Martin hit to start the scoring and tie the game once more. Malayni Clemens brought home a runner to make it 3-2 for IWU then Alexis Thompson hit a 2 RBI double to left field to extend the lead. The final 2 runs of the inning came by way of a Whitney Waddell double that brought home Sara Ruble and Danica Fuller.
- IWU's Avery Toole pitched a 1-2-3 4th inning before lightning and rain delayed the game during the Wildcat's half of the inning. The game will be finished at a later announced date.
