MARION, Ind. – Indiana Wesleyan Softball finished their weekend home stand with a doubleheader against Bethel on Saturday afternoon. The offense came alive as both games were finished after 5 innings due to run rule. Game 1 was a 1 hit shutout for
Isabelle Beidelschies and the offense supplied 8 runs for an 8-0 result. Game 2 saw IWU score 8 runs in back-to-back innings for a 16-2 win.
IWU controlled the first game of the day from the first pitch as sophomore pitcher
Isabelle Beidelschies pitched another complete game shutout and 8 starting IWU batters registered a hit.
Brylee Bilger recorded the first RBI of the day in the 1st inning to get the scoring started. The Wildcats tacked on three more runs in the 2nd inning to push their lead. IWU continued scoring with one run in both the 3rd and 4th innings and finished off the Pilots with two more in the bottom of the 5th. Beidelschies only allowed three baserunners for Bethel and struck out three en route to her 8th win of the season.
Morgan Yeater had herself a game with 3 hits and 4 RBIs tallied.
Game 2 started with Bethel taking a 2-0 lead in the 1st inning. IWU would battle back with eight runs in the bottom of the 2nd highlighted by a
Maddie Martin double with the bases loaded. The Wildcats matched their own output one inning later with eight more runs in the 3rd, three of which came by way of a Martin home run. Martin finished game 2 with 6 RBIs, tying her career high for RBIs in a game. Freshman
Avery Toole pitched another quality game, earning her 9th win of the season.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- IWU began their streak of scoring every inning with 1 run in the 1st by way of a Brylee Bilger single that scored Morgan Yeater.
- Yeater added 3 more runs in the following inning with a double that cleared 2 runners and she was able to score due to an error on the play.
- The Wildcats extended the lead to 5-0 when Alexis Thompson hit a SAC fly that scored Courtney Thomas.
- Johnna Hiatt recorded her first career RBI in the 4th that gave IWU a 6-0 advantage.
- The 5th inning saw Malayni Clemens hit her first home run of the season and Yeater bring home one more batter to end the game after 5 innings.
- Isabelle Beidelschies started and ended the game in the circle for IWU, only allowing 1 hit and 0 runs.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Bethel scored 2 early runs in the 1st inning of game 2.
- Half of the 16 runs for the Wildcats came in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Back-to-back doubles by Courtney Thomas and Leah May to start the inning brought home the first run. Two walks with the bases loaded gave IWU the lead, 3-2. With the bases still loaded, Maddie Martin blasted a double into left center field to clear all the runners. Leah May made it back to the plate and recorded her 2nd and 3rd RBI of the inning with a single that scored the final 2 runs of the inning.
- Avery Toole locked down the Bethel offense with a 1-2-3 top of the 3rd and IWU got back to work on offense.
- The other half of the Wildcats' runs came in the bottom of the 3rd. Four straight batters hit a single to start the inning, resulting in 2 more runs. Maddie Martin once again came up big with a 3 run home run which gave IWU a 13-2 lead. Alexis Thompson brought home a pair of runners later in the inning and the last run of the game came off the bat of Aliya Bilger.
- Malayni Clemens closed out the game in the circle and prevented Bethel from getting anything going.
