Krygier's 40 Ties Program Record in 2OT Loss to Huntington

MARION, IND. — Indiana Wesleyan Women's Basketball fell to Huntington in a double-overtime thriller, 76-74, in a tightly contested game that featured five ties and two lead changes. The Wildcats capitalized on turnovers, scoring 27 points off Huntington's 19 turnovers. This marks the third consecutive game in which Indiana Wesleyan has made at least 9 three-point field goals, highlighting their strong perimeter shooting. Ayla Krygier's 40 points not only set her career high for the third time in the past two weeks, but also tied the program record for points in a single game, a record first set by NAIA Hall of Famer Liz Howerth.

FIRST QUARTER

  • Indiana Wesleyan started strong with a 3-pointer from Ayla Krygier at 9:44 to take an early lead.
  • HU responded with a 10–2 run, including a jumper by Annaka Nelson at 5:29, to gain momentum.
  • Krygier's layup and free throw at 1:59 narrowed the deficit for the Wildcats.

SECOND QUARTER

  • The Wildcats capitalized on turnovers, scoring 15 points off seven HU turnovers in the frame.
  • Addi Hovey sparked scoring early with a 3-pointer at 7:58, narrowing the gap.
  • Ellie Kelleher extended the lead with a 3-pointer at 4:33, supported by Myla Browning's assist.
  • Krygier capped the quarter with a layup at 0:06, giving Indiana Wesleyan a 38–30 lead at halftime.
THIRD QUARTER
  • The Foresters surged with a 10–2 scoring run early in the quarter, tying the game at 40 with 5:52 remaining.
  • IWU briefly regained the lead with a jumper by Krygier at 5:21, but HU answered swiftly to tie it again.
  • HU closed the quarter on a 10–0 run, highlighted by a 3-pointer from Nelson at 00:45, extending their lead.
  • At the end of the third quarter, HU led 50–42.

FOURTH QUARTER

  • Indiana Wesleyan opened the quarter with a 3-pointer by Krygier at 9:49, cutting the deficit.
  • A sequence of turnovers by HU allowed the Wildcats to capitalize, with Jayd Hovey scoring a layup at 7:27, narrowing the gap further.
  • Krygier tied the game at 56 with a jumper at 6:06 as both teams traded leads.
  • In a dramatic finish, the Wildcats tied the game at 61 with a layup from Hovey at 00:02, sending the game into overtime.

  • Krygier continued her impact, adding another layup at 3:53 to extend the margin.  
  • Huntington's Liv Raby responded with a layup at 2:59 to cut into the deficit. 
  • Kyndell Jochim's layup at 0:32 tied the game, leaving the score at 70–70 at the end of OT.

  • Raby of the Foresters scored a layup at 4:37, extending their lead to 72–70.
  • Addie Shank blocked a shot at 3:46 which led to Kyndra Sheets making two free throws, increasing HU's lead to 74–70.
  • Krygier sank two free throws at 2:51, narrowing the gap to 74–72.
  • After a missed three from the Foresters with 7 seconds, IWU had one last chance to win or extend the game but a missed jumper from Krygier at the buzzer gave HU the win.
