Krygier's Career Day Leads Women's Basketball Past Maple Leafs

GOSHEN, IND. — Indiana Wesleyan Women's Basketball defeated Goshen on Saturday, 66-47, with a dominating 38-26 rebounding advantage. The Wildcats capitalized on the Maple Leafs' 20 turnovers, scoring 19 points off those opportunities. Freshman Ayla Krygier led IWU with career highs in points (22), FG made (9), and 3PT FG made (3). Jayd Hovey put together a near triple-double effort with 12 points, 10 assists, and 7 rebounds.

FIRST QUARTER

  • The Wildcats opened with strong shooting, hitting 11 of 14 from the field, including three 3-pointers in the opening frame, buildng an early lead.
  • At 5:24, Jayd Hovey's 3-pointer sparked a sequence that extended the lead to 13–4.
  • GC struggled with turnovers, committing six in the quarter, which the Wildcats capitalized on by scoring 9 points off turnovers.
  • Indiana Wesleyan led 27–16 after the first quarter, dominating points in the paint with a 14–6 advantage.

SECOND QUARTER

  • Koryn Greiwe made an impact early with consecutive 3-pointers at 8:56 and 7:39, both assisted by Kylie Bettinger, establishing the Wildcats' shooting advantage.
  • Myla Browning converted two free throws at 4:19, extending the lead for Indiana Wesleyan.
  • Paulecia Isom responded with a 3-pointer at 6:01 for the Maple Leafs, narrowing the gap in the middle of the quarter.
