PULASKI, Tenn. —
No. 21 Indiana Wesleyan Women's Tennis took on No. 22 Cumberland University and the University of Tennessee Southern on Friday on the campus of UT Southern. In the morning match, IWU fell 4-2 to No. 22 Cumberland. CU started by taking the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and 3 doubles.
Sofia Munoz would gain a point for IWU at No. 1 singles winning 6-2, 6-1. Cumberland would take No. 2 and 3 singles to go up 3-1, but
Nicole Puga reduced the deficit by winning No. 4 singles. The Phoenix finalized the match when they won No. 5 singles in a close tiebreaker.
IWU would play UT Southern later in the evening and took a 4-0 victory.
Katie Parr and
Meribel Jarna took No. 2 doubles, 6-0, while
Lauren Dick and
Maria Oliveira secured the doubles point at No. 3 doubles, 6-1. Munoz followed it up with a win at No. 1 singles to take the 2-0 lead.
Nicole Puga and Dick both won their singles matches to get IWU the 4-0 win.
