GREENTOWN, Ind. — Indiana Wesleyan Men's Tennis welcomed both Olivet Nazarene University and D-2 Ashland University on Saturday for a morning and evening match. The Wildcats took the first match 4-1 against the Tigers, but fell 4-1 against Ashland.
Olivet Nazarene secured the doubles point by winning two of the three doubles matches. However, the Wildcats did not allow ONU to gain another point for the rest of the match.
Valentino Trento commenced the singles sweep with a 6-0, 6-2 win at no. 4 singles.
Matheus Lima followed with a straight-sets victory at no. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-1. Mikhail Klinkov extended the lead at no. 2 singles, securing a 6-4, 6-2 win. The decisive fourth point came from
Timo Fischer at no. 3 singles. After falling 1-6 in the first set, Fischer won the second and third set to collect the match victory for IWU.
Later in the day, the Wildcats took on D-2 Ashland University. IWU started with a win at no. 1 doubles, but were unable to gain the doubles point. Despite a no. 1 singles win for Lima, Ashland would win at no. 2, 3, and 4 singles to win the match.
