Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

No. 2 Women's Soccer Bounces Back With Win Over Huntington

MARION, Ind. - The newly minted No. 2 Indiana Wesleyan Women's Soccer took on the Foresters of Huntington in Marion on Saturday afternoon. Two early goals and strong defense propelled the Wildcats to a 2-0 victory. They will travel to Goshen College on October 10th for their next match.

The Crossroads League leader in points, senior Alyssa Hamann, put in the game-winning goal in the 6th minute to give IWU an established lead. Just over six minutes of play later, Hamann assisted the next goal from Avery Williams who scored her 7th of the season. The defense held firm and Avery Sluss made a save near the end of the first half to keep the score where it was. The second half started with another Sluss save on a run from Huntington followed by multiple good shots from IWU. Despite the effort, the Wildcats were unable to find the net once again, but the backline prevented the Foresters from finding it either. Indiana Wesleyan picks up its 10th win of the season and 9th shutout.

SLUSS PERSPECTIVE

"This season has been such a joy and being able to compete with my teammates with the goal of not only winning on the field, but for glorifying and serving Christ through our play as well. Obviously, we still have a lot of room to grow, but I know that as we continue to develop physically and emotionally, we have so much potential to win on the field and spread the Gospel."
