UPLAND, Ind. – No. 12 Indiana Wesleyan Softball advanced to the Crossroads League Tournament Championship Game after beating Saint Francis 8-0 in the morning. In the Championship, Marian won over IWU 13-1 in 5 innings. IWU's season is not over as they host the NAIA Opening Round starting on May 12th.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS

 


 

• Game 1 was all IWU as they won 8-0 over the Cougars of Saint Francis.
• Whitney Waddell scored on a passed ball in the 1st inning to start the scoring. Morgan Yeater scored right after off of a Courtney Thomas single.
• In the 2nd innings, the Wildcats added 2 more runs via a Malayni Clemens home run.
• Abby Harvey, Brylee Bilger, and Sadie Harding each earned an RBI in the bottom of the 5th inning to push the lead to 7-0.
• Jordyn Ball pitched 6 scoreless innings with 7 strikeouts and only 3 hits allowed. IWU put up 1 more run in the bottom of the 6th to end the game and advance to the Championship game.

 

 

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS

 

 

• Marian controlled game 2 from the 1st inning, putting up 2 runs in the 1st and 3 in the 2nd.
• Sadie Harding blasted a home run in the top of the 2nd inning to score Indiana Wesleyan's lone run of the game.
• The Knights put the game away in the 4th inning with 8 runs scored.

 

NEXT TIME OUT

 

 

• The Wildcats have earned the opportunity to host the NAIA Opening Round in Marion starting on May 12th. IWU awaits the results of the NAIA Softball Selection Show on May 7th to determine who they will be playing.
