MARION, IND. - The Indiana Wesleyan baseball team pulled of a second upset in the Crossroads League Tournament on Friday night, taking down 2-seed USF 6-5 in a thriller. The Wildcats were powered by the long ball, getting homers from
Caleb Engelsman and
Ty Mathews in the game.
Gabe Stout went 5.2 innings in the start to earn his sixth win of the season and
Caleb Olsen shut the door with his first save of the season.

- IWU came out on fire, getting the first run via a Ty Mathews sac fly that scored Kyle Wu before Caleb Engelsman sent a 2 run bomb over the left field wall, scoring Greg Vineyard for a 3-0 lead.
- USF took the lead on their first hit of the game, hitting a grand slam in the 2nd.
- After 2 scoreless innings from both squads, Mathews evened the game at 4 with a solo shot to right center. Nick Wiley gave IWU the lead with a 2 RBI single that scored Engelsman and Darien Pugh.
- The Cougars looked to equalize the game on a single with bases loaded, but the second runner missed the base and had to return to third, leaving IWU with a 1 run lead. Caleb Olsen entered the game and got the final out of the inning to get out of the jam. Olsen would go the rest of the way, picking up 5 strikeouts and keeping the Cougars off the scoreboard to secure the victory.
- Ty Mathews went 2-4 with 2 RBIs and Caleb Engelsman was 2-3 with 2 RBIs and scored twice.
- The Wildcats advance in the winners bracket of the Crossroads League Tournament and will face 1-seed Taylor at 2:30 PM tomorrow.
