MARION, IND.  - The Indiana Wesleyan baseball team advanced in the Crossroads League Tournament with a 10-0 win over 3-seed MVNU on Wednesday night. IWU took a 5-0 lead through 4 innings before lighting forced the game into an hour long delay. Brock Buckley didn't miss a beat, tossing a complete game shutout while the offense scored 5 in the top of the seventh inning to put the game away.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

 

 

• After some early uncharacteristic defensive errors from the Wildcats loaded the bases in both the 1st and 2nd innings the team settled in, scoring 2 runs in the 3rd off or RBIs from Darien Pugh and Kyle Wu. Greg Vineyard and Ty Mathews scored on the hits to give IWU an early lead.
• In the 4th a double from Wu scored Grant Payson and Trevor Vojtkofsky extended the lead to 5 with a 2 RBI double scoring Wu and Colin Yoder.
• Following the weather delay at the top of the 4th inning, Yoder drilled a 3 RBI double down the left field line, scoring Payson, Nick Wiley, and Andrew Sinish in the 7th a SAC fly from Kyle Wu brought Yoder home and Pugh scored Vineyard with a single past the second baseman, pushing the lead to 10.
• Darien Pugh was 3-4 with 3 RBIs, Colin Yoder was 2-4 with 3 RBIs, and Kyle Wu was 2-4 with 2 RBIs.
• Brock Buckley went all 7 innings, fanning 9 and giving up just 4 hits and 1 walk. In two games against the Cougars this season Buckley has gone 18 IP and allowed 0 runs.

• The Wildcats advance in the winners bracket of the Crossroads League Tournament and will face 2-seed USF at 6:00 PM tomorrow.
