NO. 12 SOFTBALL EARNS CROSSROADS LEAGUE REGULAR SEASON CO-CHAMPIONS TITLE

HUNTINGTON, Ind. – No. 12 Indiana Wesleyan Softball traveled to Huntington University for the final regular season doubleheader. The Foresters took game 1 by a score of 8-3. The Wildcats won game 2 in a thriller, 10-6. IWU has clinched a share of the Crossroads League Regular Season Champions title and will be No. 2 seed after the tiebreaker in the upcoming Crossroads League Tournament starting next Tuesday, April 29th!

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
 
 


 
  • Huntington scored 2 in the bottom of the 1st to start the game. 
  • The Wildcats would put 3 runs on the board in the top of the 2nd by way of a Leah May double that scored 2 and a Sara Ruble single that brought May home.
  • The rest of the game would be all Foresters as they scored 3 of their own in the 2nd and added 3 more throughout the rest of their innings.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS
 

 
  • Game 2 was hard fought on both sides and would come down to the 7th inning.
  • IWU took an early 4-0 lead after 2 innings.
  • HU answered with 1 in the bottom of the 3rd.
  • Morgan Yeater and Abby Harvey both earned RBIs in the top of the 4th to extend the lead to 6-1.
  • The Foresters would then score 5 straight runs across 3 innings to tie the game going into the 7th.
  • In the top of the 7th, Maddie Martin singled to start the rally. Malayni Clemens then hit a double to score the baserunnner. After, Morgan Humble advanced Clemens to 3rd base, Whitney Waddell smacked a triple into right field to score her. A passed ball scored Waddell later in the inning and a Brylee Bilger single brought home 1 more run to give the Wildcats a 10-6 lead.
  • Malayni Clemens shut the door in the bottom of the 7th and IWU came away with a split on the day.
