BASEBALL BACK IN WIN COLUMN AFTER TWO WINS OVER SAU

MARION, IND.  - The Indiana Wesleyan baseball team got back into the win column in a big way on Thursday, winning two games against Spring Arbor. IWU took game one 16-6 in 8 innings and Brock Buckley earned his 8th win in game two with a complete game.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
 

 
  • After Spring Arbor took a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st, IWU took out their frustrations from a 7 game losing streak by scoring 8 runs in the bottom of the inning. Nick WIley highlighted the scoring outburst with a 3 run homer to right field.
  • SAU added a run in the 3rd and 3 in the 4th to cut the lead to 8-5.
  • The Wildcats answered the run with 6 of their own in the 4th.
  • A solo homer from the Cougars in the 5th cut the lead to 8.
  • Kyle Wu brought Colin Yoder home with an RBI single in the 6th and Trevor Vojtkofsky walked-off the run rule with a solo shot to left-center.
  • Kyle Wu went 3-4 with 2 RBIs and scored twice, Nick Wiley was 2-5 with 4 RBIs and a homer, and Trevor Vojtkofsky was 2-4 with a solo home run.
  • Noah Wathen picked up his 5th win with 5 strikeouts in 5 innings of work. Gibson Adema put together a solid outing, going 3 innings with 0 hits, 0 runs, 0 walks, and 2 strikeouts.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS
 

 
  • Spring Arbor started game two just like game one, scoring 1 run in the 1st to take a 1-0 lead.
  • Caleb Englesman answered in the bottom of the inning with an RBI single that scored Kyle WU and tied the game.
  • SAU retook the lead in the 3rd with a solo home run.
  • IWU essentially put the game away in the 4th inning with 3 run homers from Grant Payson and Ty Mathews, putting IWU up 7-2.
  • The Cougars hit a solo shot in the final inning but never made a serious run at the Wildcats.
  • Grant Payson was 2-3 with 3 RBIs and Kyle Wu was 2-4 and scored twice.
  • Brock Buckley went the full 7 innings with 2 strikeouts, 4 hits, and 2 earned runs.
