MOUNT VERNON, OH. - The Indiana Wesleyan baseball team picked up an 8-2 win over MVNU on Friday before game two of the series was suspended after the teams battled to a 0-0 tie after 13 innings. Brock Buckley went the first 11 innings of the game and recorded a career high 14 strikeouts while allowing just 3 hits and 1 walk. Nick Wiley was the hero of game one, going 2-3 from the plate with 2 RBIs coming from a home run in the fourth inning.

• Nick Wiley put IWU ahead in the 4th with a 2 run shot to left field that scored Trevor Vojtkofsky. Colin Yoder scored later in the inning on a passed ball.
• Grant Payson scored Darien Pugh on an RBI single in the 5th.
• Caleb Engelsman scored in the 6th to put the Wildcats ahead 5-0.
• A Ty Mathews single brought Andrew Sinish across in the 8th.
• Kyle Wu brought Yoder in for a second time with an RBI in the 9th for an insurance run, extending the lead to 7-2.
• The Cougars got 2 runs back in the 9th but fell well short of mounting a comeback attempt.
• Noah Wathen picked up the win, throwing 6 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts.
• Silas Borders and Cam LaFuze finished the final 3 innings with 3 strikeouts and 2 hits.
