MOUNT VERNON, OH. - The Indiana Wesleyan baseball dropped the final three games of their series with MVNU on Saturday, first falling in game two of the series which was suspended Friday night after 12 scoreless innings. The Cougars scored in the bottom of the 13th inning to take the game. The Wildcats fell in games three and four, dropping the series 3-1.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS

 

 

• IWU took a 2-0 lead in the 1st innings on RBIs from Caleb Engelsman and Kevin Corcoran. MVNU scored 1 in the bottom of the inning.
• A Darien Pugh RBI and a solo homer from Ty Mathews put IWU on top 4-1 in the 2nd.
• Nick Wiley scored in the 3rd on a Grant Payson Sac Fly.
• Engelsman pushed the Wildcat lead to 6-2 with and RBI double, scoring Mathews.
• The Cougars shut out the Wildcats the rest of the way and platted 10 runs in the final 5 innings to secure the victory.

 

GAME THREE HIGHLIGHTS

 

 

• Darien Pugh got IWU on the board first with an RBI single that scored Kyle Wu in the 1st.
• MVNU tied the game in the bottom of the first and took the lead on a solo home run in the 2nd.
• Ty Mathews brought Wu across and Caleb Engelsman scored Mathews with RBIs in the 3rd to give IWU a 3-2 lead in the 3rd.
• Mount Vernon Nazarene knotted things up in the 6th and walked off the game in the 7th to secure the series victory.
