MARION, IND. - The Indiana Wesleyan baseball team finished their series with Marian on Saturday, earning a series split after taking games two and three of the series. Kevin Corcorna put together a solid outing on the mound in game one, picking up the win in 7 innings pitched with 8 strikeouts. IWU failed to get their bats going in the the final game of the series and were unable to take a 3-1 sries win.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS

 

 

• Caleb Engelsman got Indiana Wesleyan on the scoreboard in the first inning with an RBI single that scored Colin Yoder. Andrew SInish pushed the lead to 3-0 with a 2 RBI single that scored Engelsman and Ty Mathews.
• Nick WIley added runs in the 3rd and 5th innings with an RBI double and a Sac Fly that gave IWU a 5-0 lead.
• The Knights got runs in the 6th and 7th to make it a 3 run game at 5-2.
• Kyle WU gave the Wildcats insurance runs, first scoring Greg Vineyard with a double and later crossing home on a Trevor Vojtkofsky single.
• Caleb Englesman went 2-3 with an RBI and scored twice. Andrew SInish was 2-4 with 2 RBIs and crossed home once.
• Kevin Corcoran. got the start and the win on the mound going 7 innings with 8 strikeouts and allowed just 2 runs on 5 hits.

 

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS

 

 

• Marian took a 5-0 lead through the first 5 innings as the IWU bats went cold, registering just 2 hits in that same time.
• Darien Pugh got IWU their first run with a massive long ball to right field.
• MU responded with 3 runs in the 6th.
• Kyle Wu scored on a Caleb Engelsman ground out, but IWU would not bea ble to overcome the deficit.
• Trevor Vojtkofsky was the only Wildcat to record multiple hits, going 2-3.
• Five Wildcats saw time on the mound, combining for 9 strikeouts and allowing 7 hits.
