HOT BATS LEAD BASEBALL TO PAIR OF DOMINANT WINS

GOSHEN, IND. - The Indiana Wesleyan baseball team picked up.a pair of dominant victories over Goshen on Tuesday, fueled by a hot hitting. In game one, IWU scored a season high 23 runs and in game two they continued their strong hitting with 16 runs in a 16-0 win.

 GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
 

 
  • Darien Pugh put IWU on the board first with a 3 run homer in the 1st inning.
  • Indiana Wesleyan got a pair of runs in the 2nd off a Ty Mathews single and an error.
  • The Wildcats exploded for 16 runs in the next 3 innings before Goshen scored their first run. 
  • Runs in the 6th and 7th innings pushed the Wildcat lead to 21.
  • Kyle Wu went 4-5, scoring 5 times, Ty Mathews tallied 6 RBIs on 3 hits, and Darien Pugh sent two balls over the fence 5 RBIs and scored 3 times.
  • Kevin Corcoran, Silas Borders, and Caleb Olsen split time on the mound with Olsen earning the win. The trio combined for 13 strikeouts, 3 hits, and 1 earned run.

  • Darien Pugh again put IWU on the board first, scoring on a walk in the 2nd. The Wildcats would score 8 times in the 2nd and third innings to take another commanding lead. Pugh and Wiley hit homers in the 3rd.
  • A Wiley Sac Fly put IWU up 9-0 in the 4th.
  • The next 3 innings saw Indiana Wesleyan score 7 more times, including another Wiley home run.
  • Kyle Wu went 3-5 and scored 3 times, Nick Wiley went 2-2 with 2 home runs and tallied 4 RBIs while scoring 4 times, Darien Pugh went 1-2 with a homer.
  • Gabe Stout earned his 4th win of the season, going 6 innings with 7 strikeouts, 2 hits, and 0 runs. Cam LaFuze shut the door striking out 3 of 4 batters in the final inning.
