GOSHEN, IND. - The Indiana Wesleyan baseball team picked up two more wins on Friday, defeating Goshen. The wins and a loss from Marian moved the Wildcats into sole second place in the Crossroads League. Caleb Engelsman went 3-5 with a home run and Kyle Wu was 4-9 with a pair of RBIs on the day.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS

 

 

• Darien Pugh got the scoring started on a wild pitch in the 2nd, but Goshen responded with 5 runs in the bottom of the inning.
• Caleb Englesman sent a solo shot into center field to get a run back in the 3rd.
• Another homer from Tanner Smith brought Nick Wiley and Grant Payson across to tie the game at 5. Ky Wu scored on a walk to regain the lead.
• Smith scored in the 5th on a balk, Kevin Corcoran scored in the 6th on a Pugh's steal attempt, and Trevor Vojtkofsky brought Payson across later in the 6th for insurance runs.
• The Mapleleafs got 2 runs back in the 9th but were unable get the tying runs across.
• Caleb Englesman went 2-3 with a home run and Grant Payson was 2-4 and scored 2 runs.
• Noah Wathen earned the win, going 5 innings in relief with 5 strikeouts and allowed 0 runs.

 

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS

 

 

• A Kevin Corcoran single scored Ty Mathews in the 1st, but Goshen got the equalizer later in the inning.
• Mathews scored in the 3rd off another Corcoran single and a Darien Pugh double brought 2 across. Pugh scored later in the inning on a wild pitch.
• GC got 1 run back in the 3rd before Mathews scored Colin Yoder on a ground out.
• Tanner Smith scored Pugh and Grant Payson in the 5th with a double and Kyle Wu sent Jay Tomes across with a single.
• The Mapleleafs got a run in the 5th and 6th innings to bring the score to 9-7.
• Wu added an insurance run with an RBI single that scored Nick Wiley to secure the 10-7 win.
• Kyle Wu went 3-5 with 2 RBIs, Kevin Cororan went 2-3 with 2 RBIs and scored once, and Ty Mathews 2-4 with 2 runs and 1 RBI.
• Brock Buckley earned his 5th win of the season going 4.1 innings with 5 strikeouts. Cam Lafuze finished off the game with 3 strikeouts in 2.2 IP.
