BASEBALL SPLITS DOUBLEHEADER WITH IUK AND NO. 3 GEORGIA GWINNETT

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA. - The Indiana Wesleyan baseball team splits their doubleheader on Friday, beating IUK 15-3 before falling to No. 3 Georgia Gwinnett 14-4 in 8 innings. Trevor Vojtkofsky and Kyle Wu both put together solid days, Vojtkofsky went 6-10 from the plate with 4 RBIs and scored 4 runs, Wu went 6-8 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored.

 GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
 

 
  • Trevor Vojtkofsky gave IWU a lead in the second inning by scoring Caleb Engelsman on a double. Jay Tomes brought Vojtkofsky home with a sac fly to give the Wilcats a 2-0 lead.
  • After IUK got back one run, IWU added two more in the fifth with another Engelsman run off a Vojtkosky double and and RBI single from Kevin Corcoran.
  • Two more Wildcat runs scored in the 6th off a passed ball and then 4 scored in the 7th to put IWU up 10-1.
  • IUK scored a run in the 7th and 8th innings to keep the Wildcats from ending the game early, but the red and gray added  to their lead in the top of 9th for a 15-3 victory.
  • Kyle Wu went 4-6 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs, Trevor Vojkofky went 3-6 with 3 RBIs and 3 runs, and Jay Tomes went 2-4 with 2 RBIs.
  • Noah Wathen got the start and went 3.1 innings with 5 strikeouts, 1 earned run and 2 hts. Gabe Stout earned his second win of th season with 4.2 innings of work, 2 strikeouts, 2 runs, and 3 hits.

 GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS
 

 
  • Caleb Engelsman got Indiana Wesleyan on the board first with an RBI single, scoring Kyle Wu in the top of the first inning. 
  • GGC scored 6 runs over the next 4 innings to take a 6-1 lead.
  • A Trevor Vojtkofsky home run and runs from WU and Darien Pugh brought the Grizzly lead down to 2.
  • 7 runs in the 7th and 1 run in the 8th by Georgia Gwinnett put an end to any Wildcat comeback hopes.
  • Vojtkofsky went 2-4, 1 RBI, and 1 run scored, Kyle WU went 2-2 and earned 2 walks, and Caleb Engelsman went 2-4 with 2 RBIs.
  • Brock Buckley got the start on the mound and worked 3.2 innings allowing 6 runs on 11 hits with 5 strikeouts,
