PORTER REACHES 1000 CAREER DIGS IN SWEEP OF SAU

MARION, Ind. — Indiana Wesleyan University (17-3, 11-0) swept Spring Arbor University  (17-7, 4-7) in straight sets on Saturday at Luckey Arena, with scores of 25-17, 25-17, and 25-22. The Wildcats' service game was key, recording eight aces to the Cougars' one. With the win IWU won their 50th consecutive regular season match against Crossroads League opponents and 53rd with Crossroads League tournament games. Abbigail Porter reached 1000 career digs with her ninth dig of the match.

SET ONE

  • Indiana Wesleyan opened with a balanced attack, building an 8-3 lead after a service ace from Eva Joldersma.  
  • A 6-0 run extended Indiana Wesleyan's advantage to 14-6, capped by a service ace from Cadee Notter.  
  • The Cougars attempted a comeback with a 5-1 stretch, narrowing the gap to 21-16 following an attack error by Marin Sanchez.  
  • Indiana Wesleyan sealed the set with a 25-17 victory on a kill by Abbigail Porter, taking a 1-0 lead in the match.
 

SET TWO 

  • The Wildcats opened a strong lead with a 5-0 run, highlighted by Marissa Mullins' scoring contributions and a service ace from Cadee Notter, to go up 9-4.  
  • SAU closed the gap to 13-10 with a series of defensive plays. 
  • Indiana Wesleyan responded with a 4-0 stretch, including a service ace by Eva Joldersma, extending the lead to 17-12.  
  • The Wildcats maintained control and Marissa Mullins' decisive kill helped close out the set 25-17.
 

SET THREE 

  • Indiana Wesleyan surged to a 6-1 lead, highlighted by Autumn Colehour's service ace and an attack error by the Cougars.  
  • SAU rallied to tie the score at 10-10 with a service ace and kill.
  • Shae Williams delivered two key kills, sparking Indiana Wesleyan to tie the match at 18-18. 
  • Eva Joldersma's three consecutive kills sealed the set for Indiana Wesleyan, ending with a 25-22 advantage.
