FOLEKMA'S CAREER DAY LEADS WILDCATS OVER MVNU

MOUNT VERNON, OH. - No. 2 Indiana Wesleyan women's basketball picked up a 76-66 win over Mount Vernon Nazarene on Saturday, moving to 17-0 on the season. Taylor Folkema dropped a career high 31 points, 15-26 FG, and 7 rebounds.

WHAT HAPPENED


 

  • The Wildcats got off to an uncharacteristically slow start, falling behind by 10 with 2 minutes left in the first quarter. An 8-0 run to end the quarter, led by two triples from Maddie Lawrence cut the lead to just 2 heading into the second quarter.
  • The IWU defense held the Cougars to 12 points in the second frame and Indiana Wesleyan extended their lead to 10 on a Jade Nutley layup with just a few second left before halftime.
  • MVNU cut the Wildcat lead to 1 during the third quarter, but the red and gray got two layups from Lilli Frasure and a free throw from Lawrence to push their lead back to 6 at the end of the quarter. IWU was held to 38.1% shooting in the third.
  • The Wildcat defense held the Cougars to just 13 points on 38.5% from the field in the final quarter while Folkema and Frasure combined for 11 points on 5-9 shooting to keep Indiana Wesleyan unbeaten on the season.

  • 41: IWU brought down 41 rebounds with three players nearly reaching double digits. Jade Nutley led the team with 9, Izzy Reed grabbed 8, and Taylor Folkema had 7.
  • 17: Indiana Wesleyan scored 17 second chance points off of 11 offensive rebounds
  • 31: Taylor Folkema scored a career 31 points.
