DEFENSE LEADS NO. 2 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PAST GOSHEN

MARION, IND. - No. 2 Indiana Wesleyan women's basketball moved to 18-0 on Wednesday evening, defeating Goshen College 93-57. The Wildcats put together a strong defensive outing by holding the Maple Leafs to just 6 points in the third quarter and 21 in the second half. Four Wildcats reached double-figures, led by Taylor Folkema with 17.

WHAT HAPPENED


 

  • Lilli Frasure helped IWU build a 20-14 lead in the first quarter with 6 points on 3-3 shooting and 2 assists, Despite missing her first four shots, Taylor Folkema was effective on the glass with 5 rebounds, including 2 offensive.
  • After failing to record a made basket in the first quarter, Folkema went 5-5 in the second, totaling 11 points, 2 blocks, and a steal in the frame to help the Wildcats take a 47-36 lead into halftime.
  • Indiana Wesleyan's defense ramped things up to start the second half, holding Goshen to just 6 points on 16% shooting, and forced 10 turnovers. Offensively, IWU shot 50% from the field and knocked down 5 triples, to extend their lead to 32.
  • Six Wildcats recorded a field goal in the fourth quarter, pushing their lead to 36 before the final buzzer sounded.
