NO. 8 VOLLEYBALL PICKS UP PAIR OF WINS IN HOME OPENER

MARION, IND. - No. 8 Indiana Wesleyan volleyball had their home opener on Saturday, picking up a pair of victories in a tri-match with Cornerstone University and Trinity Christian College. The Wildcats won all six of their sets sweeping the Golden Eagles and the Trolls.

  • IWU got off to a slow start in their home opener, trailing 12-3 early in set one. However the Wildcats battled back and used a late 8-0 run to steal the set 25-19.
  • After taking a 5-1 lead in set two, IWU kept momentum the rest of the way, winning 25-17.
  • The tow teams played a close third set, the Golden Eagles tied things up at 20, but the Wildcats edged out CU the rest of the way, finishing off the sweep 25-23.
  • Eva Joldersma totaled 15 kills to lead the team.
  • Marta Zambetti had 5 blocks and Marissa Mullins recorded 4.
  • Abbigail Porter tallied 45 assists.
  • Joldersma had a team best 16 digs while Cadee Notter added 15.

 MATCH TWO VITALS

 

  • IWU used runs of 9-3, 6-2, and 8-3 as they cruised to a 25-13 set one victory.
  • It was all Indiana Wesleyan in set two as IWU took the set 25-10.
  • The Wildcats took the momentum from set two into set three, taking a quick 15-5 lead. IWU held on taking the sweep 25-15.
  • Eva Joldersma had 19 kills to lead the team.
  • Marissa Mullins totaled 7 aces in the win.
  • Abbigail Porter tallied 35 assists.
  • Cadee Notter recorded 10 digs.
