NO. 8 VOLLEYBALL STAYS UNBEATEN WITH SWEEP OF NO. 22 MVNU

MOUNT VERNON, OH. - No. 8 Indiana Wesleyan volleyball picked up their fifth Top-25 victory in just seven matches to remain undefeated on the season. The Wildcat victory marks their first Crossroads League win of the season and matches the teams longest win streak from a season ago at seven.

  • MVNU used home court advantage to take an 11-4 lead in set one, but the Wildcats clawed their way back to tie the set at 19. A 6-2 run to end the set gave IWU the win.
  • With the Cougars holding a 2 point lead at 9-7, Indiana Wesleyan went on a 7-1 run to take a 14-10 lead. However MVNU battled back tying the set at 24. IWU would score the final 2 points to take a 2-0 lead.
  • In the final set neither team could gain separation with neither team leading by more than 3 (MVNU 3-0), until runs of 5-1 and 5-2 pushed IWU in front to complete the sweep 25-20.
  • Eva Joldersma and Martina Demarchi paced the Wildcats will 11 kills each. Marissa Mullins added 9.
  • Joldersma and Marta Zambetti had 2 blocks each to lead the team.
  • Abbigail Porter tallied 34 assists.
  • Cadee Notter had a team best 12 digs while Joldersma recorded 9.

  • The Wildcats stay on the road for a tri-match with Lourdes University and Saint Xavier University (Ill.) on Friday at 5pm and 7pm.
