MARION, Ind. - No. 19 Indiana Wesleyan women's tennis swept both matches 7-0 on Saturday to start off the season with a pair of wins. In the AM, the ladies beat an up-and-coming Saint Francis team, 7-0, while only giving up a total of 9 games. The doubles point was quickly decided with easy wins by No. 1 doubles
Breann Barger and
Katie Parr (6-1) and quickly followed up by wins at No. 2 (Munoz/Antezana, 6-1) and No. 3 (Snider/Way, 6-0). In singles, No. 1 player
Sofia Loren Munoz won 6-0, 6-0 to lead IWU and
Alli Schellenberg finished off the sweep at No. 6 (6-1, 6-1).
In the afternoon, the Wildcats played a short-handed DePauw squad and beat them 7-0. DePauw was only able to bring five players due to sickness and it was tough for them to stack up against the nationally-ranked Wildcats. The women won every match in straight sets to finish the day 2-0. Paige Riegsecker won her first collegiate match at No. 5 by a score of 6-0, 7-5.

- "The women took care of business today," said James Gleghorn, Head Tennis Coach. "There were no let-ups along the way. It is the way you want to draw up the opening day! I am really proud of the way they came together and dominated both matches. They did a great job of supporting each other and showing Christ's love after the matches to the other team. I am glad to have France back after her knee surgery. It has been a long 9 months for her, and she came out today and showed she is ready to play!"
- The Wildcats will face Spring Arbor on Tuesday at home at 3:30 p.m.
