UPLAND, Ind. - No. 22 Indiana Wesleyan softball made the 12 miles drive across Grant County for the second edition of the County Class against rival Taylor on Saturday. IWU's offense looked the best it has all year as they combined for 33 hits and 25 runs in two dominating wins over the Trojans, 12-3 and 13-3. Kamryn Buck was on fire as she went 4-8 in the series with four hits, two home runs, and five RBI's. The Wildcats jump to second in the Crossroads League standings with a 17-7 record.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS

 
 

• IWU took a 4-0 after two innings, highlighted by a Kamryn Buck home run.
• Elisa Koshy and Buck each hit home runs in the 5th inning as Indiana Wesleyan piled on five runs.
• An RBI double from Aubrey Gearhart in the 6th inning gave the Wildcats enough to earn the run-rule win.
• Buck's two home runs are the most in a game this season.
• Five different Wildcats hit doubles, the most so far this year.
• Alyssa Wagner improved to 16-3 with just one earned run in four innings of work.

  

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS

 

 

• The Wildcat offense stayed hot to start Game 2 with three runs in the first inning.
• Taylor had the game tied up at 3-3 heading into the 5th, but IWU scored 10 runs over the final three innings to cruise to victory.
• Ashton Whitman blasted her first home run in over a month.
• Elisa Koshy sent her second bomb over the fence and leads the team with seven this season.
• IWU's 18 hits are the most in a game this year.
• Emma Etter-Cox threw six innings in the circle, while holding Taylor to three runs.

  

BABINSKI PERSPECTIVE

 

• "We are playing our best ball," said Steve Babinski, Head Softball Coach. "This is the most consistent our offense has looked all year. They really showed up! Pitching and defense worked tirelessly, making us able to separate on the scoreboard. This team is getting better and better right in front of my eyes!"
