MARION, Ind. - No. 22 Indiana Wesleyan softball were back at Sue Bowman Field on Monday night for a Crossroads League twinbill against Bethel. The Wildcats made quick work of the Pilots in Game 1 for a 10-0 shutout in five innings. Game 2 produced a more thrilling finish as IWU needed extra innings before walking off in the 8th inning, 6-5.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS

 

 

• The Wildcats got on the board first with an RBI double from Ashton Whitman.
• IWU piled on five more runs in the 2nd inning after tallying five hits in the inning.
• Indiana Wesleyan reached double-digits in the 4th inning after adding on four more runs.
• The Wildcats tied their season-high with three doubles in the game.
• Alyssa Wagner picked up the shutout win after only giving up three hits in four innings of work.
• Six different Wildcats recorded an RBI.

  

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS

 

 

• IWU held a lead before the Pilots hit a three-run home run in the 4th inning to take a 4-2 lead.
• Bethel tacked on another run to push their lead to 5-2 after five innings.
• The Wildcats put together a thrilling comeback in the 7th inning to tie the game and force extra innings.
• Julianne Bell found herself in a rundown with two outs in the 8th inning and slide under the tag at home to score the winning run.
• Bell tallied two runs scored and three stolen bags.
• Jenna Yost went 3-4 with a run scored and the game-winning RBI.
• Wagner earned her second win of the day after throwing 2 strikeouts in the 8th inning.

• "I saw the heart of the Wildcats unfold tonight, and it was something special to witness," said Steve Babinski, Head Softball Coach. "Game 1 was loud and convincing, while game two needed some late game heroics. This team put together such an amazing comeback story that will propel us forward for the rest of the season!"
