NO. 22 SOFTBALL EARNS SWEEP OVER BETHEL AFTER EXTRA INNING THRILLER

MARION, Ind. - No. 22 Indiana Wesleyan softball were back at Sue Bowman Field on Monday night for a Crossroads League twinbill against Bethel. The Wildcats made quick work of the Pilots in Game 1 for a 10-0 shutout in five innings. Game 2 produced a more thrilling finish as IWU needed extra innings before walking off in the 8th inning, 6-5.

  • Alyssa Wagner picked up the shutout win after only giving up three hits in four innings of work.

  • IWU held a lead before the Pilots hit a three-run home run in the 4th inning to take a 4-2 lead.
  • Bethel tacked on another run to push their lead to 5-2 after five innings.
  • The Wildcats put together a thrilling comeback in the 7th inning to tie the game and force extra innings.
  • Julianne Bell found herself in a rundown with two outs in the 8th inning and slide under the tag at home to score the winning run.
  • Bell tallied two runs scored and three stolen bags.
  • Jenna Yost went 3-4 with a run scored and the game-winning RBI.
  • Wagner earned her second win of the day after throwing 2 strikeouts in the 8th inning.
