YOUNG LEADS WILDCATS OVER KNIGHTS

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Indiana Wesleyan Baseball stayed perfect in league play on Thursday, picking up two wins over Marian. Drue Young led the Wildcats in game one with a dominant performance, as IWU built a 9-0 lead with Young on the mound. IWU held on to win 9-3 in the first game. Luke Roman scored on a double from Lucas Goodin in the second game to lift the Wildcats in extra innings.

 GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
 

 
  • The Wildcats got things going in the 2nd inning, scoring 4 runs. MJ Stavola drove in Ty Mathews on a single and a Lucas Goodin double to left field scored Stavola, Luke Roman, and Greg Vineyard.
  • IWU added two runs in the 5th on RBIs from Stavola and Goodin.
  • A sac bunt from Luke Roman brought home Greg Vineyard in the 7th. Jeff Morton scored on a wild pitch and Vineyard brought Caleb Engelsman across with a single in the 8th to give the Wildcats a commanding 9-0 lead.
  • The Knights were able to add 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th, but were unable to overcome the 9-0 hole.
  • Drue Young pitched the first 8 innings for IWU, striking out 9, giving up 0 runs, and only 4 hits.
  • Jake Thompson stole 4 bases as Indiana Wesleyan tallied 9 stolen bases as a team.
  • Colby Jenkins led the team with 3 hits, while Goodin added 4 RBIs.

  • The Knights got things going early, scoring 2 runs in the 1st.
  • Sac flys from Nick WIley in the 2nd and Caleb Engelsman in the 3rd drew the score even.
  • After Marian added a run in the bottom of the 3rd, the Wildcats added 2 runs on a walk and a wild pitch in the 4th.
  • Marian tied the game on a Wildcat error to tie the game in the bottom of the 7th and send the game to extras.
  • Lucas Goodin doubled to right field, scoring Luke Roman and IWU held on to take game two 5-4.
