NO. 6 SOFTBALL SPLITS ON DAY 2 OF TUCSON INVITATIONAL

TUCSON, Ariz. - No. 6 Indiana Wesleyan softball woke up for two more games on Tuesday in the Tucson Invitational Games. The Wildcats narrowly fell to Northwestern in 8 innings, 4-5, for just their second game of the season, but were able to bounce back for a 5-3 win over Dakota Wesleyan.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
 

 
  • After 4 innings of play, IWU found themselves down 4-2.
  • A two-run home run from Becca Wyatt in in top of the 7th tied the game and forced extra innings.
  • The Red Raiders scored in the bottom of the 8th inning off a sacrifice grounder to give the Wildcat's just their second loss of the season
  • Alyssa Wagner and Emma Etter-Cox threw a combined 7.2 innings while giving up 4 hits and 5 walks with just one strikeout.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS


 

  • RBI's from Makenna Waddell and Kamryn Buck put the Wildcats up 2-0 in the 1st inning.
  • DWU tied it back up with two runs of their own in the top of the 3rd.
  • A two-run RBI single from Becca Wyatt in the 4th gave IWU the lead, 4-2.
  • A walk with the bases loaded in the 6th added an insurance run for Indiana Wesleyan to get the bounce-back victory.
  • Alayna Thomas picked up the win after giving up just 3 runs in 5.1 innings in the circle.
  • Natalee McNeal earned her first save of the season with a no-hitter in the final 1.2 innings.
