NO. 6 SOFTBALL SECURES TWO WINS ON DAY 1 OF TUCSON INVITATIONAL

TUCSON, Ariz. - No. 6 Indiana Wesleyan softball are spending their spring break in sunny Tucson, Ariz. for the Tucson Invitational Games. The Wildcats got the week started with a 3-1 win over Jamestown in the morning, followed by a 4-1 win over Saint Francis (Ill.).

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
 

 
  • Jamestown scored first in the 3rd inning off a fielding error by IWU.
  • The Wildcats quickly responded in the bottom of the inning with two runs off a fielding error and a sacrifice fly to take the lead.
  • Makenna Waddell doubled in the 6th inning, and Zoe Fountain scored an insurance run to put IWU up 3-1.
  • Emma Etter-Cox earned the win after throwing a complete game with 7 strikeouts and just one hit given up.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS


 

  • Courtney Thomas and Sadie Harding got the offense going for IWU in the 3rd to go up 2-0.
  • USF cut the deficit to 2-1 with an RBI single in the bottom of the 3rd.
  • The Wildcats put up two more runs in the 5th off two RBI's from Sadie Harding and Morgan Yeater.
  • Alyssa Wagner got the win after giving up just one run through 6 innings of work.
  • Alayna Thomas came in for the 7th inning to secure the save.
