NO. 6 SOFTBALL SWEPT BY (RV) MOUNT VERNON

MARION, Ind. - No. 6 Indiana Wesleyan softball took on (RV) Mount Vernon on on Thursday in a doubleheader between two of the top teams in the Crossroads League. The Wildcats fell in both games against the Cougars by just 3 combined runs after final scores of 2-1 and 7-5. IWU finds themselves on a three-game losing streak for the first time since March of 2020.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
 

 
  • Mount Vernon scored first in the 2nd with an RBI double by Ollis.
  • Marcum made it 2-0 in the 4th inning with her first home run of the day.
  • The Wildcats narrowed the margin in the 6th after a Chloe Tragessor score, but were unable to score again.
  • IWU's four hits tied their lowest total of the season.
  • Alyssa Wagner kept Indiana Wesleyan in the game with 8 strikeouts.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS
 

 
  • MVNU took an early 1-0 lead, but IWU took a 3-1 lead in the 2nd inning.
  • Mount Vernon took back the lead with 5 runs over the next two innings.
  • IWU once again started to mount a rally in the 7th inning with a Ashton Whiteman RBI single, however three-consecutive strikeouts ended the game.
  • The Wildcat defense have given up 14 hits twice in their last 3 games.
