NO. 6 SOFTBALL DROPS TWO AGAINST NO. 17 MARIAN

MARION, Ind. - No. 6 Indiana Wesleyan softball lost both of Monday's doubleheader Crossroads League games against No. 17 Marian. Marion remains undefeated in league play at 12-0. The Wildcats find themselves in a slump after losing their fifth-consecutive game. The last time IWU lost five-straight was in April of 2014.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
 

 
  • A pitching dual in Game 1 saw Alyssa Wagner throw seven strikeouts while giving up four hits and no earned runs.
  • Marian scored the only two runs of the game in the 6th inning after a single by Madere drove in two runs.
  • IWU had the tying run on second base in the bottom of the 6th, but were unable to bring her home.
  • Julianne Bell and Zoe Fountain recorded the only two hits for the Wildcats.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS
 

 
  • MU built a 3-0 lead in the 4th inning, but IWU tied it back up after some efficient small-ball offense including four hits and two stolen bases.
  • The Knights put the game out of reach in the 7th with five more runs after the Wildcats walked four hitters.
  • Marian's eight runs are the most IWU have given up to an opponent this season.
