MARION, Ind. - The Indiana Wesleyan baseball team took a break from conference play on Wednesday, defeating the visiting IUPUC Crimson Pride 16-5. Senior Evan Salmon powered the Wildcats to victory with 3 hits, 2 homeruns, and 6 RBIs on 3 at bats.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS

 

 

• MJ Stavola got the Wildcats on the board in the 2nd inning on a double from Bryce Ginder. Ginder scored on a Nick Wiley single to tie the score at 2-2.
• IUPUC took back the lead on a wild pitch in the 3rd inning.
• TY Mathews and Evan Salmon hit back-to-back homeruns in the bottom of the 3rd to give IWU a 4-3 lead.
• After the Wildcats added a run on the 4th on a walk with bases loaded, the offense exploded adding 6 runs in the 5th. Evan Salmon led the way with a 3 run homer as IWU pushed the lead 10 13-3.
• The Crimson Pride got 2 runs back in the 6th, but the Wildcats responded with 3 runs of their own to extend their lead 10 16-5.
• 4 Wildcats saw action on the mound combining for 10 strikeouts, 4 hits, and 4 earned runs.
