WOMEN'S TENNIS VICTORIOUS IN TOP 20 MATCH AGAINST NO. 19 INDIANA TECH

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - No. 10 Indiana Wesleyan women's tennis took on #19 Indiana Tech and beat them 6-1 at the Wildwood Racquet Club in Ft. Wayne. Melanie Dveksler at #2 and Ellie Snider at #4 battled through injuries during the match to win in third set tie-breakers. Sofia Munoz played a superb match in her first time playing #1 for IWU. The day was started off with a quick win in the doubles to take a 1-0 lead. Melanie Dveksler and Breann Barger continued their incredible spring at #1 and the new pair of Sofia Loren Munoz and Emily Connolly have been dominating this spring season at #2.  At #3 doubles (with Maria Way) and #6 singles, Regan Mellinger made her spring debut in the line-up. She won easily in singles and was about to closeout the match in doubles before it was stopped by IWU clinching the point.

GLEGHORN PERSPECTIVE

  • "This was our first really complete match of the spring," said James Gleghorn, Head Tennis Coach. "I am really proud of the way the girls practiced this week, and it showed in the way they played today! Playing a Top-20 team and dominating up and down the line-up was exciting and encouraging for the girls. It was so awesome to have Regan out there today. She played phenomenally, and I'm excited for her and the team. We have a really deep team, and I am sure we will continue to battle for playing time at #6.  My favorite part of the day was coming to Luckey Arena where the girls ran in to pray together for the team and for the women's leadership retreat that Hannah Miller, Mary Seiffert, and Lindsey Krippel are having for our women athletes this weekend!"
