MARION, Ind. - Indiana Wesleyan Baseball split a doubleheader with Marian on Saturday, winning the four-game series 3-1. IWU locked up third place in the Crossroads League and is set to play Marian again in the first round of the conference tournament. The Wildcats took the first game 8-3 and fell in game two 8-5.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS

 

• Evan Salmon opened up IWU's scoring with a home run in the second. Salmon ranks fourth in the NAIA for total home runs with 22. 
• MJ Stavola broke open a six-run fourth inning with a double that scored two. Stavola finished with two hits, three RBIs, and a stolen base.
• Drue Young went seven innings on the mound, allowed just two runs, and struck out seven. 
• Lucas Goodin and Denver Blinn both had two hits, and Blinn added two RBIs.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS

 

• The Wildcats threatened in the final inning after a lightning delay, but a line-out double play ended the game.
• IWU couldn't keep things going in game two and were out scored in the final five innings 7-1.
• Jeff Morton had a home run, he also had two RBIs, and scored twice.
• Bryce Ginder got a hit, he now has a hit in nine of the last ten ballgames. 
• Denver Blinn and Evan Salmon both added two hits in the contest.

  

CONTINUING THE SERIES

 

• This wraps up the regular season for the Wildcats. They now look to the conference tournament hosted at Taylor University in hopes of grabbing a spot in the NAIA Opening Round. IWU will face Marian in the first round on Friday at 10 a.m.
