MARION, Ind. - Indiana Wesleyan Baseball defeated the Knights of Marian University in round one of the Crossroads League Tournament on Saturday. The Wildcats never trailed in the game and won by a score of 4-2. Drue Young led the way, allowing just one run through eight innings on the mound. IWU stays in the winners bracket and advances to play Taylor University on Monday.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

 

• Evan Salmon broke open the scoring in the first inning with an RBI single to score Denver Blinn.
• Blinn then added to the Wildcat lead in the bottom of the third blasting a solo homer to put IWU up by two. 
• MJ Stavola scored on a single from Bryce Ginder in the fourth, Stavola finished with two hits and also walked once. 
• Freshman Drue Young had a dazzling performance on the mound. He went eight innings and gave up just one run, striking out three along the way.
• Braedon Norman closed out the ninth inning and earned the save, striking out the final batter of the game.

  

CONTINUING THE TOURNAMENT

 

• The Wildcats move on to face the Taylor Trojans in round two on the winners side of the bracket. The game is set to be played Monday at 1 p.m. at Taylor University.
