WILDCATS SPLIT WITH TAYLOR, SALMON ADDS TWO HOME RUNS

UPLAND, Ind. - IWU baseball split the second half of a four-game series with Taylor on Saturday. The Wildcats couldn't get anything going offensively in game one, falling 11-1. But early home runs gave them the lead in game two and they never looked back, winning 9-5.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS


 
  • IWU couldn't get anything going offensively and collected just two hits in the game.
  • Wildcat pitchers gave up a combined 11 walks in the game.
  • Lucas Goodin and MJ Stavola were responsible for the only Wildcat hits.
  • Zach Rabe drove in the team's lone run.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS



 

  • Lucas Goodin got things started in the first by launching a home run, his 13th this season.
  • Just two batters later, Evan Salmon hit a two-run shot to give the Wildcats a 3-0 lead in the first. Salmon finished with two home runs on the day and is tied for fourth in the NAIA with 21 on the season. 
  • Jeff Morton and Denver Blinn both finished with two hits, Morton added two RBIs.
  • Brennan Morehead got the win. He pitched five innings and gave up just one run, adding seven strikeouts.

  • With just one series left in the conference play, the Wildcats sit two games behind Taylor and four games behind Mount Vernon Nazarene. IWU takes on Marian next weekend with doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday. Game one starts at 3 p.m.
