IWU SPLITS CROSSROADS LEAUGE OPENER, MOREHEAD STRIKES OUT 11

MARION, Ind. - No. 15 Indiana Wesleyan baseball opened up Crossroads League play with a split against Spring Arbor University on Friday. It was a pitching duel in game one with both starting pitchers giving up just one run. The Cougars scored the go-ahead run in the top of the 10th which turned out to be the deciding factor in the 2-1 SAU win. Game two was back and forth through five innings but the Wildcats were able to pull out the victory 7-6.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS


 
  • Brennan Morehead was electric through nine innings of work. The sophomore struck out 11 hitters, a season-high for any Wildcat, and allowed just one run. 
  • IWU had plenty of baserunners but couldn't convert, stranding 13. 
  • Blake Storr reached base four times with a single, walk, and two HBPs, he also scored the only Wildcat run. 
  • Denver Blinn added a hit and an RBI in the game.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS


 

  • It was a team effort in game two as seven Wildcats contributed hits in the contest. 
  • After a Lucas Goodin single, MJ Stavola broke open the scoring with an RBI double in the 3rd inning. 
  • Evan Salmon and Blake Storr both had two hits and an RBI, Storr provided a much-needed insurance run in the 6th with an RBI single. 
  • Jake Engelkes got the win going five and one-third innings and striking out six. 
  • Braedon Norman got the save allowing just one run and striking out one in his one and two-thirds innings of work.
