MARION, Ind. - It was a massive defensive effort Saturday as No. 21 Indiana Wesleyan men's basketball sunk Bethel University 86-52 for the fewest points scored by a Pilot team since 2005-06. Bethel University struggled from the tip with IWU's defense, shooting 33% from the field for the game, their lowest of the season.

The Wildcats now sit alone in first place in the Crossroads League with a record of 5-0.

WHAT HAPPENED

• The Wildcats opened the game on a 15-2 run, forcing a Bethel timeout with 15:39 left in the first half. IWU was 7-of-8 from the floor, while Bethel was 1-for-7.
• Bethel didn't hit double-digit scoring until the 7:30 mark in the first half, spotting IWU a 22-point lead. Indiana Wesleyan's defense held Bethel to 19% shooting in the first 13 minutes.
• Stauffer put IWU up 30 with 2:45 left in the first half, hitting his second three of the first half. 
• Maxwell was two rebounds shy of a first-half double-double. He led all scorers with 12 at the break.
