SOFTBALL FALLS TO ONU IN OPENING ROUND, FACES NO. 2 CAMPBELLSVILLE

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The No. 6 Indiana Wesleyan softball team lost a hard-fought 2-1 contest to No. 12 Olivet Nazarene Tuesday afternoon in the Opening Round of the 2021 NAIA Softball World Series.

INSIDE THE BOX 
  • IWU had a chance to jump on top in the bottom of the first as Jennah Yost bunted for a hit. With one down, she looked to have swiped second, but was called out for leaving early.
  • In the fourth, Chloe Tragresser led off the inning with a base knock to center field. However, three straight outs ended the stanza.
  • The Tigers plated a pair of runs in the fifth for a 2-0 edge.
  • Becca Wyatt ripped a two-out single in the sixth and moved to second when Julianne Bell reached on a walk. Yost bunted for a hit and Wyatt came around to score, cutting the deficit to one at 2-1.
  • Miranda Wehrle doubled to right center to lead off the sixth. Zoe Fountain came in as a pinch runner and quickly swiped third. However, she was left stranded. 
  • For the game, Yost had two of the team's hits. Tragresser, Wehrle and Wyatt each had one base hit in the game. 
  • In the circle, Alyssa Wagner went the distance. She struck out five and walked three. Wagner gave up two runs on three hits. 
  • The Wildcats had three errors and left five stranded.


NEXT TIME OUT
  • The Wildcats take the field again later today facing Campbellsville at 6 p.m. EST.
