#10 SOFTBALL WINS 30TH GAME OF SEASON, WINS 19TH STRAIGHT OVER BETHEL

MARION, Ind. – The No. 10 Indiana Wesleyan softball team picked up a sweep of Bethel Friday afternoon by scores of 4-3 and 9-0. The Wildcats picked up their 30th win of the season in game one, giving them seven straight season with at least 30 wins.

INSIDE THE BOX – Game 1
  • After a scoreless first two innings, IWU broke open the game with a four-run third stanza.
  • Juliianne Bell singled and swiped second base. She came home on Chloe Tragresser's double to the gap in left center field. Moments later, Miranda Wehrle's sacrifice fly made it 2-0.
  • Hannah Miller reached on a walk and Zoe Fountain came in as a pinch hitter. Rebecca Schrad crushed a two-run homer over the fence for a 4-0 advantage.
  • Bethel plated a run in the sixth and two in the seventh, but the Wildcats held on for the win.
  • Alyssa Wagner was tremendous in the circle. She worked six innings and struck out 14 batters. Alayna Thomas and Mckenzey Ridge combined to work the final inning. Ridge, who registered one out, picked up the save while Wagner got the win.  
  • Aubrie Eckert had three hits while Tragresser had two. Schrad drove in a pair of runs in the victory.


INSIDE THE BOX – Game 2
  • The Wildcats jumped on top of game two with a five-run first inning. After Bell and Tragresser reached safely, Wehrle launched a three-run homer.
  • Miller singled and Trinity Medina came in as a pinch runner. Schrad reached on an error. Moments later, Kamryn Buck singled in Medina and Schrad for a 5-0 advantage.
  • Buck's double in the second plated Tragresser and Eckert's base knock drove in Miller, pushing the score to 7-0.
  • IWU added two more runs in the third for a 9-0 lead. Becca Wyatt doubled and scored on Bell's double. Wehrle ground out two batters later and Bell scored on the play for the final margin.
  • For the game, Wehrle registered four RBI while Buck added three. Tragresser, Buck and Eckert had two hits apiece. Bell and Tragresser each scored twice.
  • Ridge worked three innings and had three strikeouts. Addie Benham tossed the final two frames in the shutout victory.  


NEXT TIME OUT
  • The Wildcats take the field again tomorrow when they host No. 6 Marian in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
