SOFTBALL CHOPS DOWN MIGHTY OAKS

MARION, Ind. – The No. 15 Indiana Wesleyan softball team recorded a sweep over visiting Oakland City Wednesday afternoon. Powered by the long ball in the first game to strong pitching in game two led the Wildcats to the 11-3 and 4-2 sweep.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE – Game 1
  • Indiana Wesleyan scored in each of the first five innings and was never threatened in the opener.
  • Chloe Tragresser led the way with a game-high three hits while Miranda Wehrle drove in a game-best three runs. Hannah Miller and Jennah Yost had two hits apiece. Becca Wyatt and Yost each crossed home twice.
  • Mckenzey Ridge worked four innings and picked up the win. She had a strikeout. Addie Benham saw time in the circle and recorded a pair of strikeouts.
  • Yost got things going with a bunt single. She moved to second on Tragresesr's shallow single before swiping third. Wehrle drove her in on a sacrifice fly.
  • Aubrie Eckert crushed a 2-1 pitch for a solo homer in the second inning. Wehrle went yard with a two-run homer in the third for a 4-0 edge.
  • In the five-run fourth, Miller launched a two-run homer. Earlier in the frame, Wyatt scored on an error.  Zoe Fountain drove in Yost moments later. Elisa Koshy singled in Makenna Pace as well.
  •  Leading 9-3 in the fifth, Tragresser doubled home Wyatt and Julianne Bell for the final tally.



THREE IN A ROW
  • Miranda Wehrle smacked a homer in the opener. It marked the third straight game that Wehrle registered a round-tripper. In three games, Wehrle had four homers.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE – Game 2
  • Alayna Thomas worked four innings and struck out three batters en route to earning the win. Hannah Miller tossed 1.1 frames before Alyssa Wagner came in for the final 1.2 innings to pick up the save. Wagner struck out three.
  • Jennah Yost posted another multi-hit performance. She added one RBI and scored a run in the win.
  • Yost started the bottom of the first with an infield hit and moved to third when Chloe Tragresser smacked a double to left field. She scored on a fielder's choice. Miller's single to center field plated Tragresser for a 2-0 edge.
  • Kamryn Buck led off the second with a single. After moving to third, Yost's infield hit plated Buck for a 3-0 advantage.
  • Leading 3-2 in the bottom of the third, Elisa Koshy singled. Becca Wyatt came in as a pinch runner and moved to third on an error. She scored on a groundout for the final tally.


NEXT TIME OUT
  • The Wildcats take the field again Friday when they play a doubleheader at Goshen starting at 3 p.m.
