SENIOR DAY
  • Before the contest, IWU basketball honored seniors Ryan Slack (manager), Dylan Alderson, Billy Harness, Michael Thompson III, Michael Zitney, and Kyle Mangas.
  • COACH TONAGEL ON RYAN SLACK: Ryan has grown as a young man throughout his journey at IWU. He takes the initiative and has a servant's heart. With his eagerness to grow and lead spiritually, we are excited to see what he does in the next chapter of his life as he marries his fiancé Morgan in May and pursues his MBA at Cornerstone University while working for their athletic department.
  • COACH TONAGEL ON DYLAN ALDERSON: Dylan bought in from day one as a Wildcat. As a transfer from Toledo, his transition was seamless as he pursued a rare, aggressive humility both on and off the court. Dylan has competed with and for his teammates, as evident by earning Man's Club status in his lone year as a Wildcat.
  • COACH TONAGEL ON BILLY HARNESS: Billy has a heart for people, and it was his heart for his teammates that earned him a spot on the Wildcat roster. As a crowd favorite, the chant "We want Billy" has often been heard in Luckey Arena over his time at IWU. Perhaps some of his most significant influence has been with the IMPACT program at IWU that serves students with special needs. We do not doubt that Billy will continue to impact countless lives as he begins educating the youth as a teacher.
  • COACH TONAGEL ON MICHAEL THOMPSON III: Known as an energy giver, Michael is the ultimate teammate. As a transfer, his willingness to be ALL IN has been unmatched. He has been willing to take on any role that has been given to him – from practice squad member to the back-up five man, to a starting guard this season. The incredible thing about Michael is that throughout all of this, he has shown up the same way EVERY SINGLE DAY … with enthusiasm, an infectious spirit, a hunger to grow, and a love for his teammates. As a leader in the locker room, the legacy he leaves will far outweigh any statistic and will be felt within the program for years to come.
  • COACH TONAGEL ON MICHAEL ZITNEY: Michael is a dedicated student and teammate. He has put a tireless amount of work into his studies in his pursuit of academic excellence. During his time with the Wildcats, he has been a leader in the weight room and is a three-year member of Man's Club. In the locker room, Mike has forged close relationships with his teammates and often finds himself as the source of entertainment and laughter. But beyond all that, it is his growth in his knowledge, pursuit, and understanding of his walk with the Lord that has been the most fun to watch.
  • COACH TONAGEL ON KYLE MANGAS: Coaches, fans, and teammates have been able to witness firsthand one of the great NAIA basketball players of all time during these past four years. However, what makes Kyle special goes far beyond what he has done on the court. The humility and grace that he has led with is unmatched. From being asked to be a vocal leader as a freshman to becoming the standard for what an IAM3 leader looks like within the basketball program, he has accepted every challenge head on. He is the standard for mental toughness, as is evident by his unflappable demeanor, competitive nature, and his countless game-winning heroics. To the outside world, he's an incredible basketball player. To all of us who know him – he is that and a whole lot more. He's Mango – a teammate, a friend, a competitor, and a servant leader who has remained humble, fearless, authentic, and gracious throughout his decorated career.
