BALANCED TEAM ATTACK GIVES NO.1 IWU ADVANTAGE OVER NO. 17 BETHEL

MARION, Ind. - No. 1 Indiana Wesleyan men's basketball won their seventh Top-25 win Saturday, more than anybody at any level in 2020-21, sinking the Pilots of Bethel University 103-83. The win gives IWU 17 games this season won by at least 20 points. 


The Wildcats also pushed their 100-point game record to 13 this season, three more than any other basketball season.

WHAT WENT DOWN
  • Indiana Wesleyan started the game on a 22-10 run, forcing four Bethel turnovers, scoring seven points off the Pilots' mistakes. Bethel burned their first timeout of the contest. 
  • Out of the timeout Bethel went on an 8-3 run forcing IWU to call their first timeout, bringing the score to a 25-18 IWU lead.
  • BU's leading scorer TreVion Crews led all scorers with 29 points, shooting a perfect 10-for-10 from the field. 18 of his points came from long ball range. Mangas was second best with 21 points on 7-of-12 shooting. He also added three assists and three steals. These numbers are from the first half.
  • Both squads were hot in the first half, with BU shooting 65% and IWU shooting 54%.
  • IWU started the second half on a 14-4 run forcing a Bethel timeout. Nine of their points came from long range, while Mangas accounted for eight points. The Wildcats continued the run pushing their lead to 17-points with 13 minutes left in the contest. With nine minutes left, IWU led by 20. With three minutes left IWU led by 28 points.
  • With 15 minutes left in the contest, both Mangas and Crews had 29 points. Mangas finished with 37 while Crews finished with 31. Mangas added 16 points in the second half while Crews mustered two points.
  • Mangas finished the game with 37 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals, and 3 turnovers. 
  • Bethel's Crews finished with 31 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 0 steals and 5 turnovers.
