MARION, Ind. - No. 13 Indiana Wesleyan women's basketball team defeated University of Michigan-Dearborn 71-53 this evening. Both teams have played each other four times in the history of both programs with the Wildcats victorious every time. Wildcats move to 6-1 on the season with conference play starting this weekend.
 
WHAT HAPPENED

• The first quarter saw Wildcats pull ahead as much as 13 points on a few different occasions. Lilli Frasure led the offense with nine points in the first stanza.
• Wildcats stretched the lead as far as 14 points but the Wolverines went on a 7-0 run to end the half. Wildcats led 33-27 at the break.
• The first four minutes of second half play was back and forth until the Wildcats went on an 11-0 run which started on a Kelli Damman three-pointer.
• IWU set the tone for the last quarter by a Baylie VanDyke backdoor layup followed by a three-pointer by Maddie Lawrence which led the Wildcats to a 21-14 fourth quarter finish.

INSIDE THE BOX

• Lawrence continues to best her career-high this time with 20 points to lead the Wildcats. She went 3-4 from the arc and pulled down six rebounds.
• Frasure added 19 points, the fifth time she has posted double digit numbers this season.
• Klair Merrell was a difference maker tonight posting a career-high 12 rebounds alongside eight points.

MILESTONE ACCOMPLISHMENT

• Tonight's win marks Head Coach Ethan Whaley's 100th career win.

NEXT TIME OUT

• Wildcats open up conference play on the road at No. 10 Marian University on Saturday for a noon tip off.
