MARION, Ind. – No. 22 Indiana Wesleyan University men’s tennis had a full day of tennis Saturday, including two Crossroads League victories. They started their day with a 6-1 win over Huntington, and then returned home where the second unit beat Mt. Vernon Nazarene 7-0. The Wildcats did not play their third match planned for the day against Lourdes because they forfeited due to lack of players. COACH SHIGLEY PERSPECTIVE
ON MATCH ONE VS. HUNTINGTON
- This was a very competitive match against a good Huntington team. Huntington lost some matches early on in the season due to injuries, this was their first match being fully healthy. We felt very good about the win.
ON MATCH TWO VS. MOUNT VERNON NAZARENE
- “This was a fun match where we were able to play lots of different guys in the lineup that don’t usually get to play as often. They came in and did a terrific job for us. We are super deep this year and our second unit played very well today. Very pleased with how Trey Thixton is playing lately and it was good to see Jason Wegener rebound after being out sick this week.”
UP NEXT FOR MEN’S TENNIS
- Indiana Wesleyan men’s tennis matches up against Crossroads League opponent Grace (Ind.) on September 17th in a battle for sole possession of first place. Play begins at 4 p.m. at the Sutter Tennis Center in Marion, Ind.
