ZIONSVILLE, Ind. – No. 10 Indiana Wesleyan University women’s tennis crushed IU East with a 9-0 victory on Friday in Zionsville. The Wildcats stay in the Central Indiana region on Saturday with two matches to be played at DePauw University in Greencastle.

COACH SHIGLEY SAYS…

“We rested Lizzie in singles and Tay in doubles. Sabrina Porter stepped in and played a great match. Alex and Lizzie were down 7-3 in doubles, saved a match point and then reeled off six straight games to win 9-7. Alex played outstanding today. IU East’s No. 1 player is a very good play and she beat Alex in the ITA Midwest Tournament Elite Eight and finished as the eventual runner-up to Lizzie. Alex saved five math points and eventually won 13-11 in a third set tiebreaker. Great win for Alex Mella.”

Indiana Wesleyan plays a pair of matches on Saturday in Greencastle. IWU opens with Principia (Ill.) at 12:30 p.m. and then DePauw (Ind.) at 4:30 p.m. Both matches will be played at DePauw.
