COACH SHIGLEY SAYS…
“One of the things I am discovering about our men’s team is that they have courageous hearts. Today, we beat a team from Marian that is loaded with talent. They are extremely good. Diego pulled out an incredible match in the midst of significant leg cramps in the third set. Eli was cruising in this match and was up 6-0, 4-2 when heat exhaustion set in and he was starting to black out. He retired from his match because it is not worth the potential damage to a young man’s body. We have to think long term. Grant Esposito and Riley Worland came up big in singles and our doubles play was spot on, especially at No. 1 with Eli and Grant Yager. This is a special team and it’s going to be a fun year. “
