Women's Tennis Wins First Two NCCAA Matches, Advances Out of Pool Play

MOBILE, Ala. – Indiana Wesleyan University women’s tennis earned a NCCAA national semifinal appearance on the first day of competition in Mobile, Alabama. IWU defeated Colorado Christian and Bluefield (Va.) on Tuesday and wraps up pool play on Wednesday.

COACH SHIGLEY SAYS…

  • “The girls won their 30th match of the season. We had a really good week of practice last week and the girls came ready to play. Going up 3-0 after doubles allowed us to rest some people. Becky and Sabrina took the opportunity to win the singles points. This afternoon should be a tougher match so we will need to be ready.”

COACH SHIGLEY SAYS…

  • “Bluefield only has four players so we started the match ahead 3-0. I was worried the girls would have a mental let down but they came out firing on all cylinders and won the match 5-0 after doubles play. In this heat, it is really nice to get a quick win.”


UP NEXT

  • Indiana Wesleyan battles No. 4-seed Emmanuel (Ga.) at 9:30 a.m. ET on Wednesday in the final pool play match. Both teams are 2-0 in pool play and earned national semifinal appearances on Thursday.
