MARION, Ind. – Indiana Wesleyan University women’s tennis defeated Grace (Ind.) 5-1 on Wednesday in the Crossroads League Tournament Semifinals. The Wildcats host the league championship on Saturday and have won all eight tournament titles since the team format began in 2010.

COACH SHIGLEY SAYS…
“Grace came ready to play some great tennis today. This caused us to have a slow start in doubles. However, we found our stride about 30 minutes into the match to take a 2-1 lead after doubles. In singles, Lizzie, Maddie, and Marissa were on fire. They hit great shot after great shot. Lizzie had 20 winner off service returns, let along once the rally got started. Maddie and Marissa’s opponents simply had no answer, they would shake their heads in disbelief or just laugh at how ridiculously good our girls were playing. Very fun to watch. We will need the whole team playing this well in both singles and doubles on Saturday for the league championship. We are looking forward to the challenge.”

Indiana Wesleyan hosts the Crossroads League Tournament championship on Saturday. IWU will not know their opponent until Thursday as the other half of the bracket still has a Quarterfinal match to be played on Wednesday before the Semifinal match on Thursday.
