MARION, Ind. -- For the third consecutive year the Indiana Wesleyan University women’s basketball team will partner with Destiny Rescue to raise funds and awareness against child trafficking in a home game on Wednesday vs. Goshen. Fans are encouraged to wear black or buy Black Out shirts at the game to support the cause.
Approximately $1,500 will help fund the rescue of a child. Indiana Wesleyan has been able to save six children in the first two years of hosting a Destiny Rescue game.
There will be multiple ways to donate at the game which includes a donation basket that will be passed at halftime, Destiny Rescue t-shirts for purchase, and handmade bracelets and jewelry for sale that have been made by rescued children. All proceeds from the game go to Destiny Rescue.
Kirk Falconer, CEO at Destiny Rescue USA, will be in Luckey Arena for the game. He will speak at halftime about Destiny Rescue and their mission.
Destiny Rescue is an international Christian based, non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing children from human trafficking and sexual exploitation. Since 2011, Destiny Rescue has saved nearly 2,000 children enslaved around the world, helped keep hundreds more from entering the sex-trade through various prevention programs, and have raised awareness to untold numbers.
This marks the first year that the Crossroads League will host the event at all five women’s basketball games being played on Wednesday. ‘Black Out Child Trafficking’ games will be at Indiana Wesleyan, Huntington, Mount Vernon Nazarene, Saint Francis, and Taylor.
Indiana Wesleyan hosts Goshen (Ind.) at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in Luckey Arena.
